SHORE OFFERS NEW STRATEGIES AND TOOLS FOR PUBLISHERS EXAMINING CHANNEL PARTNERS

WESTPORT, CONNECTICUT, 13 JULY – A new report released by Shore Communications Inc. reveals how publishers can adapt their content distribution strategies to a rapidly shifting sales environment that requires a serious reassessment of how channel partners should be used for online content distribution. The report offers analysis and decision-support tools to help publishers formulate optimal partnering strategies, to make practical decisions about how to define channel partner relationships and to maximize profitability while developing closer client relationships. The report is targeted towards publishers of professional content but is designed to benefit publishers of any content that is valued by their primary customers.

“With widespread Web-based publishing, publishers’ requirements for distribution partners have shifted away from technology services toward advertising and merchandising services,” said report author Janice McCallum, a Senior Analyst for Shore. “Content management technologies provide publishers great flexibility while the Web allows publishers to develop direct relationships with a greater number of customers and segments than ever before. As a result of these developments, publishers need to reassess the rationale for contracting with content aggregators, syndicators, resellers and other channel partners.”

The 19-page report, entitled “Online Channel Partner Handbook: Strategies and Practical Tips for Professional Publishing”, provides useful tips for reassessing existing partner relationships to determine whether to terminate, continue, or renegotiate current agreements; suggests utilizing Web-based methods for driving qualified traffic to publishers’ content e-commerce systems; and includes a three-page Partner Checklist for evaluating prospective partners in five different categories. Further details on the report and its purchasing options may be found at the following Internet Web address:
